Just read this, Lyle.

I did the “Bible in a year” last year, but I didn’t feel nourished, like I have in the past. I’ve been a Christian for 43 years - and I usually savor the moment I read my Bible. I’ve done the “Bible in a year” before, but I really enjoy savoring the Word.

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. “

That is my aim for my life.

Amen, John! If you give Lectio Divina a try or decide to pick up Peterson’s book, let me know! I really enjoy it and find that it helps me spend more time in the Word rather than just checking off today’s readings.

This is great.... I write out the Scripture as well, then again on making it a prayer. For instance, When the Word in Romans 12:1: I would put myself into the Word as if to say a prayer and write it out, "Lord by your mercies, let me present myself a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to you for your service".... This also helps me remember the Word, apply it to my heart as well as dive deep into meaning. It is so important not to skip and just check off. The following days, I would read over my notes daily and re-read the prayer each day. Time with the Lord is precious!
